Molino Taponero
Gaucin, Andalucia.

Sleeps 4 to 6

Nestling in a hidden fold of the mountains near Gaucin, Molino Taponero is a traditional Andalucian water mill enjoying a beautiful tranquil riverside location. The river Genal ripples by keeping the gardens lush and green, with a series of pools where you can safely bathe and swim only a stones throw away.

The surrounding countryside with cork, eucalyptus and poplar woods is rich in wildlife, with deer, foxes and rabbits to be seen in the hills and otter, lynx and mongoose coming down to the waters edge. Eagles and hawks ride the thermals overhead with stork and heron coming to fish in the shallows.

Molino Taponero is a very special rural retreat, guests return year after year to enjoy the peace and beauty of this corner of Andalucia.

The Molino is also home to "Lanas del Rio" the craft weaving company run by the owners Paul and Dawn Sutcliffe and weaver Howard Wimpenny. Using Victorian Dobcross looms brought over from Yorkshire Paul, Dawn and Howard run the looms in winter, producing a range of blankets, shawls and other products, all woven in natural fibres. Although Lanas del Rio only manufacture during the winter months Paul and Dawn are always happy to show the machinery to guests at the Molino.
